GRS Benefits Statement

About Your Annual Gwinnett Retirement System Benefits Statement

Your Gwinnett Retirement System Benefits Statement is an annual statement to help you understand your GRS retirement benefits and better plan for your financial future. It is a valuable document and we recommend keeping a copy with your financial records until you are eligible to apply for your GRS retirement benefits.

How to Access Your GRS Annual Statement

Establish your GRS Portal Account for access to your annual statement.

How to Read Your Annual Statement

Your annual statement shows information about you and your benefits in 4 sections:

Section 1 - About You. This section displays personal information about you.

Section 2 - About Your GRS Service. This section contains important information used to determine your vesting status including beginning and ending dates of active participation, total years of service, and your vesting and current membership status.

Section 3 - About Your GRS Beneficiaries. This section provides information about the beneficiaries you have selected to receive any benefits due upon the event of your death.

Section 4 - About Your GRS Retirement Benefits. This section shows your accrued retirement benefit for every year you have participated in GRS. Each year your gross earnings amount is used to calculate an accrued retirement benefit which is summed over your GCPS career to provide a final retirement benefit payable to you beginning at the GRS normal retirement age of 65. If you elect to retire before age 65, your annual and monthly benefit payments will be reduced based on your age at retirement. If you were an active employee on January 1, 1999, your earnings for the years 1983 through 1995 have been increased based on the Social Security wage index.

Note: GRS is a Defined Benefit Plan. The Monthly Accrued Pension Amount is your monthly retirement benefit at age 65. The Annual Accrued Pension Amount is not a Lump Sum.

Keep Your Personal Information Current

Please review the personal information shown on your statement. If any of the information about you or your beneficiaries has changed, please fill out the applicable form and return to GRS.
