On Tuesday, August 24, at Grayson High School, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will host the first of five events where students, their families and community members will have an opportunity to meet the district’s new superintendent, Dr. Calvin Watts, and members of Gwinnett County’s Board of Education. During these Area Board Meetings, which will be held at a school in each Board district, Dr. Watts will share information about the new school year and his focus as he begins leading Georgia’s largest school district. In addition, meeting participants will learn more about the district’s work to engage the community and will be able to provide input through an online survey to share topics that are of interest to them. Please note that interpreters will be available at all meetings to assist participants who speak Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, or Chinese.
All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the host school’s theater, with a Board Governance Team Meet and Greet beginning at 6:30 p.m. The 2021 Area Board Meetings are organized by School Board district. (However, citizens may attend any one of the five meetings.) There will be limited seating in the theatre as appropriate mitigation strategies will be in place to promote physical distancing. In addition, masks are required in all GCPS facilities. All meetings will be streamed and recorded. Watch at https://bit.ly/GCPSTVlive or on the GCPS TV app (available on Apple, Android, Amazon Fire, and Roku).
