Dear GCPS Families and Staff, 

Recently, I was approached by a search firm for Atlanta Public Schools (APS) about the Superintendent position. The firm asked me to meet with the Board of Education, as well as a public committee. I met with both groups this week, as I am always open to listening.

After much thought and prayer, I have decided that my home is with Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), and I will continue to serve as your superintendent. We are making tremendous progress in our strategic plan to provide each and every student with the education they need and deserve. Therefore, I want us to continue our work together as Team GCPS.

I appreciate the time and consideration from the APS Board of Education and Community and wish them success in their search. With that said, I remain committed to GCPS students, families, and staff and to our mission to become a system of world-class schools where students acquire the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and careers.
