Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile the fourth annual list of America’s Best Employers by State. The list is divided into 51 rankings—one for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia—and was compiled by surveying 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. Surveys were conducted anonymously, allowing participants to freely share their opinions. The final list ranks the 1,382 employers that received the most recommendations.
A quick review of the list is a “who’s who” of corporate and educational leaders. Delta Air Lines (No. 1), the Southern Company (No. 2) and Emory University (No. 4). GCPS made the Forbes list with a ranking of 62 out of the 1,382 employers listed. Superintendent Dr. Calvin J. Watts is proud that the district has been recognized in this manner. “Our ranking on this list directly reflects the talented employees and the culture of belonging they foster within our schools and district through leading with empathy and innovation,” Dr. Watts shared.
Ms. Cathy Hardin, GCPS’ Chief Human Resources Officer, says the district’s emphasis on its people is what makes GCPS an excellent place to work. “Making Forbes’ ‘America’s Best In-State Employers’ list is validation of the hard work our teams put in every day,” Ms. Hardin says. “Being an employer that leads with empathy, values equity, moves and works effectively and produces excellent outcomes, makes a difference in our work space and in our community.”
