Apply for GEMS Oversight Committee by Aug. 12 deadline

It’s not too late... Families, school district employees, and community members have until Friday, Aug. 12, to apply for the GEMS Oversight Committee, a group of community and school system representatives charged with the annual review of GCPS’ Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) standards. The committee’s work considers feedback on new and proposed AKS from stakeholders, which is gathered via an online survey in the fall. At the next GEMS meeting, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 1, 2022, committee members will review feedback and staff comments for all courses in review before making recommendations to Superintendent Dr. Calvin J. Watts for adoption by the Gwinnett County Board of Education. Committee members serve three-year terms. If you have questions or need additional information about the GEMS process, please call 678-301-6828.
