Atlanta Falcons player Kyle Pitts dropped by Jordan Middle School recently to support and encourage students to be the best in Gwinnett County. The Power Play Academic Pep Rally, sponsored by the Kyle Pitts Foundation and local businesses, celebrated the students' first-semester achievements and encouraged them to power through and excel in their academic journeys.
The Jordan Middle School gym was full of excitement as Pitts and teammates Mack Hollins and Van Jefferson, cheerleaders, and Freddie Falcon energized the students and staff. Lawrenceville Mayor David Still and Jordan Middle’s namesake, Dr. Judy Jordan Johnson, also attended the Pep Rally. The event, sponsored by McCrays, Golden Locks Brokerage, Marcus The Visual Productions, Headquarters Barbershop, and Papa John’s Pizza of Lawrenceville, was broadcast live on Closed Caption television throughout the school. A group of select students who met academic and behavioral requirements earned the privilege of attending in person.
In addition to a pep talk, students had a chance to win prizes, including gaming chairs, PS5 accessories, Coach bags, and Beats by Dre headphones, in recognition of their hard work and adherence to the SHIELD - a PBIS behavior model. “I am so proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff,” Principal Melissa Miller shares. “It's thrilling to have the community come in and recognize our students’ success. I look forward to all the amazing things in store for Jordan and the Central Gwinnett Cluster.”
Jordan Middle students weren’t the only ones who were honored and celebrated. Teachers were treated to lunch and afforded the chance to win signed Falcons jerseys, footballs, and tickets to the Falcons Christmas Eve game against the Indianapolis Colts.
