Brookwood High School Advanced Placement History teacher Jim Reason has been named the 2023-2024 Outstanding Teacher of American History by the Georgia State Society, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). This award honors teachers in grades 5-12 who have demonstrated excellence in the study and promotion of American history and related fields such as social studies, government, and citizenship education.
Brookwood High Principal Dr. Brett Savage says Reason has earned the respect of both students and colleagues. “This is Mr. Reason’s first year on the team at Brookwood High School, and he has very quickly made a positive impact on our students,” Dr. Savage says. “Not only does he have a wealth of knowledge in his subject area, but he loves the students in his class and the athletes he coaches. His welcoming and supportive spirit make him a huge asset in supporting and challenging our students. Mr. Reason is a tremendous teacher and deserves this recognition.”
Each year, more than 3,000 DAR Chapters nationwide can select an Outstanding Teacher of American History in their communities. Reason was chosen from a pool of nominees representing DAR chapters across Georgia.
