Brookwood High School students junior Kyle Ssendagire and senior Alex Dudash have been selected as recipients of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholarship. This award grants recipients the opportunity to attend school in Germany, free of cost, for a year beginning in August 2024.
The CBYX program, a collaboration between the U.S. and German governments, is a vital bridge strengthening the people-to-people ties between the two countries. This immersive exchange program provides high school students, recent graduates with vocational interests, and young professionals with transformative opportunities to study and work abroad.
Kyle is excited about the honor. “Learning a foreign language is integral to understanding the world around you,” Ssendagire shares. “It opens doors that may never have been previously accessible and lays the foundation for intercultural friendships that enrich and solidify our place in the world as global citizens.”
Alex also looks forward to the experience. “I am so excited to have this scholarship,” Alex says. “I never would have guessed that taking German would have opened up so many doors for me. While I do not know what to expect, this experience will forever change my life. I can't wait to start packing.”
