Collins Hill High School graduating senior Ashley Colón has been awarded a 2024 Belli Scholarship worth up to $20,000. The scholarship provides college tuition and expense monies to Gwinnett County high school graduates, particularly those with documented economic needs who may not be identified as academic or athletic leaders in their schools but who possess the skills to be academically successful in college.

To be considered for the scholarship, a student must have a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA at graduation but not be in the top 10% of their senior class, have two letters of recommendation from teachers, and submit a one-page essay on their financial need, career goal, and education plan, as well as any extraordinary circumstances that have been overcome on the way to graduation. This scholarship intends to provide financial support for students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend college.

The Belli Scholarship was founded by the Belli family in memory of John, Lynne, and Nicole Belli, who were killed in a car accident in 2001. As a recipient of the scholarship, Ashley will receive $5,000 annually to cover college expenses, such as tuition, books, and fees. This scholarship is not just a one-time award but a renewable opportunity that can support her for up to four years of documented college coursework, provided she maintains a 2.0 GPA.
