District Special Education Directors

The Directors of Special Education School Support (Elementary and Middle/High) assist all GCPS schools with planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, implementation, and improvement of special education programming in order to improve student achievement. We continuously monitor efforts to improve high school graduation rates and assist in the development and application of activities for transition to post-secondary outcomes for students with disabilities.

The Director of Special Education: Behavior, Therapeutic, and Special Programs supports Tier 3 behavior intervention and supports, therapeutic services, and crisis support for students served in special programs. 

 

 

 

Dr. Susan Potts, Director of Special Education School Support - Central Gwinnett, Collins Hill, Grayson, Mountain View, Parkview, Seckinger, and Shiloh Clusters


The Director of Special Education Compliance supports schools in legal matters arising from federal and state regulations governing the education of students with disabilities. The duties of the office include coordinating all due process issues such as early resolution conferences, mediations, and due process hearings. The office also coordinates Section 504 issues for students throughout the district.

The Director of Special Education Support Services oversees the following district programs: 

  • Assistive Technology
  • Direct Care Nursing
  • Therapeutic Services (Occupational/Physical Therapy)
  • Psychological Services
  • Speech and Language Pathology
