Gwinnett County Public Schools

Today, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) kicks off National Teacher Appreciation Week and National School Nutrition Employee Week (May 2-6), celebrating the first two of several employee groups that will be recognized this month on nationally designated days. In doing so, the school district also wants to acknowledge that our success this year was due to the collaborative efforts of all employees. With that in mind, GCPS is asking the community to help us celebrate employees who have made a difference for students this year.

Dr. Calvin J. Watts, GCPS superintendent, explains, “This school year, Gwinnett County Public Schools’ 22,000 employees have worked together to reach and teach each and every student, partnering with families to meet students’ individual needs. Team GCPS—those who teach and those who support those who teach—is a strong, caring, and committed team. In recognition of all they have done to make a difference in the lives of our students this year, we invite our community to join us in celebrating our employees by saying ‘thank you.’”

To emphasize the collaborative effort to support students, the school district is promoting Team GCPS with a campaign that includes printable “thank you” sheets for handwritten notes, a form to send eCards to employees, and social media posts (hashtag #TeamGCPS). Online, students, their families, employees, and community members can use the eCards to say “thank you” and express their appreciation and encouragement to GCPS staff members… from their teacher, bus driver, and principal to the school custodian, cafeteria worker, and other support staff at the school and in the school district who served students and the Gwinnett community this year.

Learn more about the Team GCPS campaign on the district website (https://www.gcpsk12.org/teamgcps). The page includes access to the eCard submission form and downloadable “thank you” sheets to print out at home.
