The award-winning culinary students of Gwinnett County Public Schools and LETTUM EAT! are joining forces to prepare meals to feed food insecure individuals in Gwinnett County. The meals will be prepared at each school and delivered to those in need at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19 at the LETTUM EAT! location at 4554 Annistown Road Church in Snellville.
Each culinary program will prepare 10 gallons of a protein and vegetable-based entree for LETTUM EAT! with the objective of serving 500 meals to Gwinnett’s food insecure community. Chef Hank Reid, creator of LETTUM EAT! will judge each entree, awarding a 1st and 2nd place honor. “Our students take pride in their culinary skills and regularly win at competitions such as ProStart®, FCCLA, and Shake It Up. This competition gives students an opportunity to utilize their soft skills of leadership, organization, and professionalism as well as the precise skills that are required to successfully prepare a meal on a large scale,” says Chef Reid, adding, “They have a passion for their communities and want to use their skills to positively impact others by preparing food to feed those who do not have enough to eat.”
LETTUM EAT! is a Mobile Food service providing free meals to food insecure individuals and families in local communities. LETTUM EAT!’s objective is to provide meals prepared with care and served with compassion to those in need. It was founded by Chef Hank Reid in 2022, and has provided more 35,000 meals since its creation. To learn more about the program and offer support, click here.
