GCPS has partnered with GNR Public Health to offer required vaccinations for 7th and 11th grade students. Through this partnership, students can receive Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis vaccine) and MCV4 (adolescent meningococcal vaccine). In addition to these required vaccinations, GNR will have limited supplies of flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccines.
All students born on or after January 1, 2002, and are entering, advancing, or transferring into 7th grade in Georgia need proof of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster vaccination (called “Tdap”) and an adolescent meningococcal vaccination (MCV4).
Effective July 1, 2021, children 16 years of age and older, who are entering the 11th grade (including new entrants), must have received one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday. This MCV4 booster is required in addition to the booster required for the 7th grade. It is important to note that the vaccine is only required for students at least 16 years of age AND attending 11th grade.
Families must provide proof of insurance for Tdap, MCV4, and flu vaccines. Students 18 years of age and younger who do not have health insurance will be eligible for vaccines at no charge through our mobile clinics under the Vaccines for Children program. COVID-19 vaccinations are available regardless of insurance status.
We will be offering these vaccines at:
- Mill Creek High School on November 2, from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m.
- Archer High School on November 3, from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Additional vaccination events in other clusters are being scheduled now; more information is coming soon!
