Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Parent Mentors are hosting an informative and engaging workshop for parents of students receiving special education services in GCPS schools. This event, “Parents Engaging in Education,” is the first of a four-session series that aims to nurture and develop engaged parents by helping them positively support their child’s academic success. The series is highly recommended for parents of students at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school). The workshop will cover:
- The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process
- The components of the IEP
- The parent’s/guardian’s role as a member of the IEP Team
- Effective communication skills needed to help build collaborative relationships
To receive the full benefit from this workshop, participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions which will be held:
- Thursday, September 28
- Thursday, October 12
- Thursday, October 26
- Thursday, November 9
Parents may choose either an in-person or virtual session to attend.
