GCPS TV is proud to share that 20 GCPS Student Media Festival Entries were recognized with superior scores at the 2023 Georgia Student Media Festival, held on April 21, 2023. The Georgia Student Media Festival celebrates outstanding student-produced media projects across the state.
GCPS TV Coordinator Kolinda Scialabba was thrilled about the diversity of projects. “The student productions this year showed such an amazing depth of creativity and innovation. There were LEGO® animated stop motion films, podcasts on well-being, full length music videos, PSAs focused on safe driving, and messages on feeling a sense of belonging within Team GCPS. Their efforts were well rewarded and celebrated at the state level with glowing comments such as ‘Great use of visual storytelling’ – ‘Message was powerful and delivered well’ – ‘Great cinematography, lighting, sound, design, and costumes’ - and ‘I loved everything about this project. This was flawless,’ ” she remarks.
With sponsorship support provided by the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology (GAIT) and the Georgia Library Association (GLA), in partnership with Clayton State University (CSU), hundreds of Georgia students from all grade levels produce media projects and submit them for judging. The process begins at the local level, then moves on to system festivals. Projects scoring a 96 or higher are recognized as Superior in the State and advance to the Georgia Student Media Festival.
Student media project submissions include live action, website design, animation, podcasts, and photography. All projects are judged for their excellence in production, writing, creativity, lighting, and impact.
