Transition Fair

Thanks to the caring members of Team GCPS, the 2024 Transition Fair highlighted strong community partners who are dedicated to finding ways to help each and every student reach their potential. The Department of Special Education and Psychological Services hosts this annual event and maintains resource information on the district's website. With more than 800 students and families participating in this year's event, the Transition Fair serves as an active hub to connect families of students with disabilities with the resources they need to thrive in employment, engagement, and productivity.

The department and Transition Fair planning team dedicated more than 100 hours to prepare for this event and worked closely with organizations and service providers who specialize in supporting children and young adults with disabilities. The Transition Fair provides families opportunities to gain awareness of the funding structures and governmental programs that exist in our community.

Special Education Coordinator Tamra King says, "Many families commented that they didn’t know that there were so many options for their child with a disability. There were lots of gracious hugs, laughs and smiles, as well as tears of joy for families who finally found solutions for their child’s future. For me, each and every family deserves to know that there is a future full of possibilities for their child, regardless of ability or disability.  Connecting families to resources renews their hope for a brighter tomorrow, where their child can be a full participant in the Gwinnett community.
