Airbnb co-founder and Chairman of Airbnb.org, Joe Gebbia, a 2000 graduate of Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga., will be the keynote speaker at the school's graduation ceremony on May 25 at the high school stadium. Brookwood has one of the largest high school graduating classes in the state of Georgia this year, with 886 graduating seniors.

"We are proud to call Joe a Bronco and proud that Brookwood is part of his remarkable story of success, innovation, philanthropy, and global change," said Brookwood High School principal, William Bo Ford. "Just days ago, we mounted a plaque for Joe on the Brookwood Wall of Fame. He’ll see it when he returns to the school to speak at graduation and celebrate the Class of 2022."

In November 2021, Gebbia made a personal donation of $700,000 to Brookwood to establish and fund the Joe Gebbia Visual Arts Endowment and provide an additional monetary contribution to support immersive resources for the school’s athletes. Gebbia was a cross country runner and visual arts student at Brookwood, and he credits both with helping to shape the course of his career.

"It’s a thrill to come full-circle and speak to the graduates sitting in the very same seats that I once did,” said Joe Gebbia. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without my experience at Brookwood, and I know the future holds big things for these graduates.”

Gebbia has a long-established social impact tenure supporting communities locally and globally. His steadfast commitment to broadening access to educational resources remains a priority for Gebbia, who also serves on the Board of Trustees for his higher education alma mater, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
