An event which celebrates some of Gwinnett County’s brightest culminated with the naming of Aditi Venkatesh, pictured far right, as Gwinnett County’s STAR (Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition) Student. The STAR student honor is bestowed on the senior in the top 10 percent of his or her class with the highest SAT score. As part of the recognition, the STAR student selects a teacher who has had a strong influence on his/her academic career. The North Gwinnett High School senior selected her Social Studies teacher Katie Massey, pictured left, as her STAR Teacher. Erin Lim was named Buford City Schools’ STAR Student and she selected Brent Leitsch as her STAR Teacher.

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation and Partnership Gwinnett partnered to honor STAR Student and Teacher honorees during this year’s STAR Student and Teacher Luncheon on Thursday, January 26. The event celebrates all local school STAR students from each Gwinnett County high school (public and private), as well as the top student from Buford High School (Buford City Schools).

The 2023 Gwinnett County and Buford City STAR Student and Teacher winners will now move on and compete for the regional title. Regional winners will then move to the state level for the honor of being named Georgia’s 2023 STAR Student and Teacher.
