On Thursday, March 16, Gwinnett County Parent Mentors, in collaboration with Gwinnett County Public Schools’ (GCPS) Special Education Department, will host: “Understanding Your Child as a Learner.” The informational session is highly recommended for parents of students at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school). It will provide an overview of understanding psychoeducational evaluation reports and a review of areas commonly assessed in school evaluations, such as intellectual functioning, psychological processing, adaptive behavior, and social/emotional development. The presentation will also focus on how to identify student strengths and weaknesses so that families understand the needs of their student within the classroom setting, as well as how to support them at home.
