Play for All: Cooper Elementary partners with Builders for inclusive playground

Cooper ES - The Gift of Play

Inclusive learning and play are alive at Cooper Elementary School. The school recently unveiled a new playground that serves the needs of nearly 20 percent of its student population. The new playground is safe and accessible for students with physical challenges to have a fun and equitable recess experience.

To make this possible, Cooper raised nearly $11,000 for smaller parts of the playground, such as the Cozy Dome, Friendship Swing, and the Finger Maze Panel. By teaming up with Builders, a property and casualty insurance company that also strives to make an impact through charitable activities, Cooper Elementary can now give the Gift of Play to all students.

“Communicating our vision with Builders early on was key, and it allowed us to plow forward with confidence,” Assistant Principal George Kashella shares. ”It has been a true blessing to work with Builders. They are committed to ‘paying it forward’ and truly want to make a difference in the community. They were spectacular to work with, and I can tell from all my years in education that these folks really care. They have a servant’s heart.”
