Did you know in 2022, insecure password practices were exploited in 81% of cyber-attacks worldwide?*
- Change Default Passwords: Many devices, such as Wi-Fi routers and smart home gadgets, have default usernames and passwords. Always change these default credentials to unique, strong passwords. Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters, or create a three (3) word passphrase. Avoid easily guessable information like birthdays or common words.
- Update Wi-Fi Router Firmware Regularly: Manufacturers update firmware to address security vulnerabilities and improve performance. Check your Wi-Fi router's settings periodically and install the latest firmware updates. Many modern Wi-Fi routers have an automatic update feature for added convenience.
- Use strong, unique passwords: Encourage family members to use strong, unique passwords, or passphrases, for all their accounts, and consider using a password manager to simplify this process.
