Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is encouraging school district partners—families, staff members, and community members—to participate in an online School Communication Performance Evaluation (SCoPE) survey. The survey will allow them to share their feedback on communication at the class, school, and district levels. The survey, which is open Sept. 20-Oct. 4, is part of a districtwide review of communications that is being conducted by an outside organization—the National School Public Relations Association. In the survey, participants are asked to share how they prefer to receive information, the effectiveness of the communication they receive, and their perceptions related to communication and GCPS. A SchoolMessenger email served as an invitation for families and staff members to participate in the online survey. The survey links for each group (found below) are posted on the GCPS website, giving interested community members the opportunity to share their thoughts.

The Communication Audit process will provide district leaders with a snapshot of current communication efforts, the climate for communication, the issues the district is facing, and the communication needs and preferences of GCPS’ audiences. The process includes a review of current communication materials and techniques at the district and building levels. In the spirit of continuous improvement, district and school leaders will use survey results, along with feedback from 40 virtual focus groups and interviews, to increase the effectiveness of communication to support our staff, families, and students.
“As a district, we continually look at how we can improve,” says Executive Director of Communication and Media Relations Sloan Roach. “The time is right as this initiative aligns with Superintendent Calvin J. Watts’ Look, Listen, and Learn Tour. The results will assist Dr. Watts and our school and district leaders as we strive to enhance communication with those we serve. The Communications Audit is just one more example of how we are listening to our community and learning more about their needs.”
