  • Seckinger High School (SKG) proudly opened its doors on August 3, 2022, distinguishing itself as the nation’s first AI-themed educational institution, committed to cultivating the next generation of technology pioneers and innovators, ensuring students graduate with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving future.
  • Seckinger earned the top award of Most Positive School by Positive Athlete Georgia, recognizing young athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools and communities significantly, or have an infectious positive attitude that makes everyone around them a better person.
  • In March 2023, a significant milestone was reached when three members of the literary team secured Seckinger’s first-ever state title at the GHSA Class AAAA State Literary Championships. This historical victory marked a major accomplishment for the team and the school.
  • One student has achieved the prestigious honor of being a Gates Millennium Scholar, a program funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that provides outstanding minority students the chance to pursue any undergraduate discipline and supports further graduate study in selected fields. Concurrently, three other students have been granted the QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship, a program designed for high-achieving, low-income high school seniors that offer full scholarships to some of the nation’s top colleges, covering all costs, including tuition, room and board, and other expenses.
  • Jason Hurd, honored as our inaugural Teacher of the Year, was selected as one of the top six finalists in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), a recognition achieved due to his dedication to his student’s success and innovative approach to education. Similarly, our highly regarded school counselor, Renae Jackson, has been identified as one of the top three finalists for the GCPS High School Counselor of the Year award. This achievement acknowledges her unwavering commitment to student guidance and support and her efforts to foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes student growth and well-being. Both distinctions reflect their invaluable contributions to our school and the broader GCPS district.
  • Around one-third of the students at Seckinger High School elected to participate in the local science fair. From these enthusiastic participants, the top 37 projects, representing the efforts of 65 students, were selected to participate in the Gwinnett Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Two of Seckinger High School’s projects secured second place at this regional event, while nine achieved third-place finishes. Furthermore, one of the school’s science projects was singled out for a special accolade from NASA, a notable recognition of the students’ hard work and innovative thinking.
  • The SKG Student Council achieved a notable distinction by winning the Georgia Association of Student Councils’ Outstanding School Service Project award for the 2022-2023 academic year. This prestigious recognition was awarded for their innovative “12 Days of Kindness Project”, highlighting their commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and service within the school community.
  • Two students from Seckinger High School achieved international recognition as finalists in the prestigious Unsung Hero Art Competition, placing them among the top 25 high school participants globally. Simultaneously, four Seckinger students were honored at the state level, with their artwork chosen for display at the Georgia Capitol Building in the Capitol Art Exhibition. Furthermore, one Seckinger art student’s outstanding talent was recognized nationally, as she secured victory in the 9th Congressional Art Competition. This exceptional achievement means her artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol Building for a year. Together, these commendable achievements reflect the high standard of artistic talent nurtured at Seckinger High School.
  • SKG implemented the Kelvin Pulse Surveys better to understand the social-emotional well-being of students and staff. This measure resulted in notable improvements from the fall to the spring. Among students, there was a significant increase in both Social Awareness/Social Competence and Growth Mindset. Similarly, faculty members demonstrated increased optimism regarding future school improvement, confidence in their instructional practices, stronger relationships with students, and a more positive work environment.
  • Two Seckinger High School students demonstrated remarkable musical achievements. A junior French horn player from the Seckinger Bands was selected for the 2023 Georgia All-State Band, and a sophomore violinist from the Seckinger Orchestras secured a spot in the 2023 Georgia All-State Orchestra. Both students triumphed in highly competitive auditions involving thousands from across the state.
