  • Burnette Elementary School was recognized as a top performing Imagine Learning School. Imagine Learning is an individualized, multimodal language and literacy program that supports our English Language Learners.
  • At Burnette Elementary, gifted and high-performing 4th and 5th-grade students can take Accelerated Content Math courses. Some engaging and challenging activities were extended to the rest of the school through learning experiences like the Glow Room, Leprechaun Family Reunion, and Detective Day. Students immersed themselves in fun activities as they practiced vital math concepts.
  • All students at Burnette Elementary have the opportunity to participate in a variety of before and after-school clubs. This year these clubs included: Chorus, Readers Rally, Robotics, Kindness Club, PE Club, Art Club, I9 Sports, Locomotion Lions, Movie Club, Girls Who Code, and Cooking Club. The Burnette PTA also provided scholarships to students who needed assistance paying club dues.
  • Burnette Elementary was the recipient of a grant from the Georgia United Credit Union for a new sensory room. This generous grant is paying for the complete renovation of the space and all new equipment. This room will provide our students with a calm space when needed throughout the day.
  • One of Burnette's talented 5th-grade students was a Delta Community Youth Essay Contest Winner. His winning essay earned him a $100 savings account with Delta Community Bank.
  • Burnette's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) coordinates several events for the community throughout the year. These include Spirit Nights at Main Event and Chick-Fil-A, Bingo Night, Movie Under the Stars, and Trunk or Treating.
  • Burnette Elementary hosted its first Play 2 Learn class this year. This inaugural class had over 20 children under 5 years old, and their caregiver(s) attend. Play 2 Learn is a program that encourages learning through play.
  • Burnette Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
