  • Nesbit Elementary had over 50% of parents participate in Academic Parent Teacher Teams. Parents and teachers meet three times a year to discuss student data. Parents learn how to play instructional games that support their child’s learning with two foundational skills.
  • During Academic Parent Teacher Team nights, Streetwise (non-profit) provided families with over two hundred boxes of food in September and December.
  • Nesbit teachers have a STEM lab where students can explore the engineering model, taste vegetables from the learning garden, and have hands-on experiences.
  • Nesbit has two Play 2 Learn Classes that hosted over 40 students that were birth to 4 years old.
  • Nesbit had over 20 parents that participated in weekly English Classes.
  • Nesbit Elementary teachers provided students with small group, differentiated instruction to meet each student’s individual academic needs. This individual focus allowed students to develop their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Nesbit Elementary provided students with books during the summer through the GCPS Bookmobile.
  • All Nesbit Students learned to code robots in the STEM/Coding class.
  • Nesbit continued to extend our students learning with Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math courses in third, fourth, and fifth grades.
  • Several Nesbit families received Thanksgiving dinners through our “Each on Reach One” program. Nesbit students did book talks on the morning announcements and shared their favorite books. Over 150 parents show up quarterly for Mom's Tea and All Pro Dads.
  • Nesbit Elementary School is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
