  • There was a schoolwide focus on differentiated small-group instruction, critical problem-solving, differentiated instruction, and active engagement to meet every student's needs.
  • Technology tools, such as Chromebooks, document cameras, Mimio interactive devices, and iPads were provided to students and teachers to facilitate learning opportunities.
  • Through the Gwinnett Online Campus partnership, Knight Elementary fourth-grade students engage in online science and social studies content. In addition, the classrooms are equipped with furniture and technology to support this learning environment.
  • Knight Elementary continued to use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) to create and maintain a positive school climate. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for those students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
  • Knight Elementary welcomed student leader volunteers from the Parkview High School Hispanic Organization Promoting Education (HOPE) club at various family events to assist with interpretation services.
  • Families attended Academic Parent Teacher Team (APTT) Meetings throughout the year to learn about first-grade foundational literacy and mathematics skills to increase student achievement. At each APTT meeting, students had the opportunity to visit the GCPS Bookmobile to put books in their hands.
  • Knight Elementary’s business partnerships continued with Chick-fil-A and Publix Patrons.
  • Students, teachers, and parents supported the Knight Elementary PTA Booster fundraiser, Parkview Cluster Foundation, American Red Cross, United Way, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful, and canned food drives.
  • Knight Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Operational status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
