- Kanoheda students participate in Computer Science and STEM specials. In these classes, they learn the building blocks of how computers work, laying the foundation for further coursework that they will be able to take in middle school.
- This year, the Kanoheda Elementary Media Center received Library of Congress books donated from Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux’s office.
- Kanoheda Elementary School offers students the opportunity to engage in various extracurricular activities, including chorus, dance team, Reader’s Rally, Early Act, DIVAS, and Jump Rope Club.
- The families of Kanoheda joined together with the Gwinnett Rotary Club and KES Early Act Club for Garden Day. Through community volunteers, several flower beds were installed, and flowers and vegetables were planted.
- Kanoheda students’ artwork was displayed at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center during the district’s annual Tapestry Art Experience.
- Kanoheda Elementary School and the school community celebrated diversity through our annual International Night in March. Families dressed in traditional garb, and the Chorus and Dance teams performed.
- Kanoheda Elementary School provides additional support to students through a mentor/mentee program. Staff members meet monthly to support students one on one with social, emotional, and academic strategies.
- Kanoheda families engaged in multiple schoolwide events to promote student achievement and parent involvement. Events included Curriculum Nights, Literacy Night, Math Night, ESOL Parent Night, STEM Night, Awards Ceremonies, Title I events, and Exceptional Children's Week celebrations.
- Fifth grade students at Kanoheda Elementary are introduced to the field of journalism and media production as they produce the daily news broadcast schoolwide.
- Kanoheda Elementary School was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education with Distinguished status for its implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the last school year. PBIS encourages positive behaviors with recognition for students who exhibit appropriate school conduct.
